When is it?

It was pointed out to us that we had forgotten to add the date to this website. Oops. It was on the save the date cards and email. But anyway...

Saturday, 2nd May, 2020

When we know, we'll add a full list of timings right here, including when you can arrive and when everything will happen. Keep the Sunday free, as we'd like for people to stay and camp, or stay nearby, and come back to the site for a bit of fun the next day.

For campers, we might let people arrive Friday too, but watch this space.

Accommodation

The wedding is in a field...so of course there will be camping. If you’re up for that, there are some questions in the RSVP form to let us know your preferences. There will be the following facilities:

  • Power
  • Proper flushing toilets
  • Showers
  • Changing tents and a beauty area
  • Drinking water

Bear in mind that some of our guests might want to party the night away...well, the amplified music will stop at midnight, but they might sit in the chill out tent with some music and we can’t rule out laughter and general merriment. This is some way from the camping area, but if you and/or your kids are light sleepers and need your 8 hours, you might want to think about whether this suits.

Staying off site

If camping isn’t your thing, that’s OK. We’re contractually obliged to kick non-campers off the site by 12.30am, but luckily we’ve sussed out some hotels nearby that you can consider.

Nearby Hotels

We've stayed in all of them and they seem fine...no wait, that's a lie. In fact, we've got no affiliation with any of them, we just Googled a nearby list so please do have a look at the links and see if they suit you.

Dress Code

We want you to be comfortable and have a good time. Basically, do what YOU think is dressing up. If you don’t want to wear a suit you don’t have to.

Remember - it’s in a field so you might regret wearing stiletto heels as you sink into soft ground with every step.

We hope the sun will be out and it’ll be a warm spring day, but, well, it might not. There’ll be a fire pit later, and some SERIOUS HEAT on the dance floor. So you should be warm enough, but a jumper could be a good back up. And who doesn’t love a snazzy pair of wedding wellies, right?

Phones

First up - there is signal. We did a fast.com test. You’re probably going to have no problem WhatsApping or calling for taxis. You’re probably not going to manage Netflix. We only tested O2 and Three though.

For the big moments of the day - ceremony, speeches, first dance etc - we think it best if your phone stays tucked away. It’s pretty rare you get a good shot at these moments and we have photographers on hand for that (and we want them to capture your lovely faces, not a sea of phones waving in the air). So enjoy (and take as many photos as you like the rest of the time, obvs...we’re not phone fascists!).

Gifts

We’ve talked a lot about this. We’re already living together and have plates and a functioning toaster, so that traditional list didn’t seem right. And believe us when we say that your presence on our day will be all the gift we need (don’t cringe, it’s true). So don’t feel that you need to give us anything.

If you really want to, the honest answer is that we’d make best use of some cash. On 4th May we'll be heading off on a honeymoon to Mauritius and Portugal and you’d be helping to make that extra special. If you’re inclined, that would be lovely and we’ll make sure to send you a photo of us enjoying whatever it is you’ve helped us to do.

If you really want to buy a 'thing', I’m sure we’ll love it.

Children

If your young ‘un is listed on your invitation, then we’d love to have them there. BUT - if you want a day of responsibility -free dancing and fun, feel free to get yourself a trustworthy babysitter and come sans-kids. If they ask when they’re older, we’ll say they were poorly or something...

If you are bringing them, we’ll provide some things to keep them busy. There is a lake at the venue - it’s well fenced off from the main tipi area, but if you walk round the lake, you probably need to keep a close eye on them in case they fancy chasing after a duck.

You’re obviously more than welcome to camp with your kids, bearing in mind what we’ve said about the potential for some revelry-related noise.
